  • Individual counseling offers a confidential and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with a licensed therapist. This one-on-one approach allows for personalized attention to your unique needs and goals. Our goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can work towards achieving a healthier, more fulfilling life.

  • Couples counseling is designed to help partners improve their relationship by addressing conflicts, enhancing communication, and fostering a deeper understanding of each other. Whether you are dealing with frequent arguments, trust issues, intimacy concerns, or other relationship challenges, couples counseling provides a structured and supportive environment to work through these difficulties. By focusing on both individual and relationship dynamics, our goal is to help you and your partner build a stronger, healthier, and more satisfying relationship. Together, we can develop strategies to resolve conflicts, improve emotional connection, and create lasting positive change. Our services are available to couples in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

  • Telehealth counseling brings professional therapy to the comfort and convenience of your own home. SPECIALTIES:

  • When one person in a family is out of balance, the entire family is out of balance.  Don't make the mistake of thinking, "It will just go away."  I have employed family systems therapy throughout my 30-year career and have many written testimonials from parents to attest to my skill.  Whether it has to do with substance abuse issues, parenting issues, an oppositional or defiant child, sibling issues, blending two families, or some other family problem, I have dealt with them all and know how to help you bring things back to balance again.   Set up an appointment to begin.

  • By triggering our instinct for self-preservation, anxiety and panic serve a purpose, -- if we find ourselves being stalked by a lion!  Although that doesn't happen in most of our lives, sometimes it can feel that way.

If you are having debilitating anxiety with or without panic attacks, if your stress is becoming overwhelming, I can help.  I have spent many years helping people to deal with the lions in their lives and avoid being devoured.  I will assess your lion from every angle and develop with you a plan of attack to chase it away or tame it.  You can stop running and you can be in charge again.  Let's talk.

  • Maggie  works with teens and adults who are exploring their sexual identity and may identify as gender variant, gender queer, gender questioning, or transgender. She is available to advocate for her clients with parents, schools, or other institutions.  She creates a safe place to explore and find their own answers  and helps her clients to feel whole and accepted.

  • Anger itself is a legitimate feeling and a healthy emotion.   What we do with our anger is the issue.  If your anger becomes overwhelming, interferes with  your relationships or work, or threatens to turn violent,  it is then that it becomes a destructive emotion.  I employ cognitive behavioral therapy, coping strategies, and work on the original source of the anger to enable clients to gain insight and begin to take control of their anger, instead of their anger controlling them.  You can do this.  I can show you how.   Pick up the phone or send an email.

  • As a Certified Addictions Professional, National Certified Gambling Counselor, and Board Certified Clinical Sexologist, I am trained to treat and have years of experience treating problems with alcohol or drugs, gambling, sexual addiction, pornography addiction, internet addiction, and more.  Each form of addiction is similar and different at the same time.  Following an in-depth assessment, I will develop a personalized plan for moving forward and taking back your life.  The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.  Take the first step.

  • Assisting individuals and couples with sexual issues, improving intimacy and sexual health.

  • Anyone who has ever suffered depression knows how destructive it is to every facet of our lives.  If you have been feeling hopeless, helpless, sad, angry -- if you have been withdrawing from friends and family, or if you have been turning to substance abuse, pornography, workaholism, or other forms of excess because that is the only way you can escape the feelings, if you have been having thoughts that life is not worth living and you can't see a way out of the darkness, call me.  I successfully have assisted hundreds of clients to come back into the light.  Take the first step.

  • Grieving any loss (person, animal, job, opportunity) is a testament to the love and affection we have for another being or entity.  In that sense, it is a beautiful thing.  However, it IS painful and can be overwhelming.  Working with a professional can help you move through the process more quickly and with less disruption to your daily living and relationships.  You CAN come out the other side.   Contact me to begin feeling better.

  • If you think you may have a problem with binge eating, or if you are constantly struggling with weight and body issues, if you've tried every diet under the sun, let's meet and take a look at it.  Often, this is a symptom of some other issue -- and often, the underlying issue isn't what you think it is.  I can lead you to identify what is at the root of the unwanted behavior and work with you to take your life back.  The first step toward change is setting up an appointment.

  • If you are feeling stuck in your job and don't know how to move forward or if you are having problems in the workplace, Insight Counseling and Coaching is uniquely positioned to provide you with solutions, direction, and mentoring along the way.  Our staff has nearly 30 years experience assessing and developing individuals to achieve their growth potential.  We can help you achieve yours.  Set up an appointment to discuss your needs and goals.

    Teens

For many of us, our teen years are a confusing and scary time.  Sometimes it's a struggle just to make it to the end of first period.  Our hormones do things we don't understand, our parents are unreasonable, our siblings are a pain in the neck, our teachers are stupid, and school is a bore.  Many young people feel different - alone - lost.  If you notice your teen is isolating, angry, depressed, anxious, or worse, the help of a professional can be the intervention that keeps normal adolescence from becoming a crisis.  Common issues for this age group are:

    • bullying

    • anger or depression

    • low self-esteem

    • social isolation

    • body image issues

    • sexual identity issues

    • alcohol or drug abuse.

Don't put it off under the mistaken notion that it will get better on its own.  The sooner we begin, the better.

What
Our
Patients
Are
Saying

Maggie is knowledgeable, empathetic, engaging and extremely competent. I went for couples therapy with my spouse after a traumatic event that occurred within our marriage. She handled our situation with grace, sensitivity and knowledge. We still see her for the occasional "check up" to keep ourselves on track. I would recommend Mary Karp in a heartbeat!

Jisselle Anderson

Hard for me to see a bad review on this woman. I haven't been seeing her long and she has already helped me begin to control my anxiety. Her recommendations are accurate and is very pleasant to be around. Therapy takes time and is a process, and I believe she is getting to the core of my problems efficiently.

Jessica Feliciano

Maggie has been such an incredible support for me and my family! She has provided applicable tools and resources to improve our marriage and overall family dynamic. She is kind, empathetic, and able to provide tangible recommendations for overall improvement. I highly recommend her services, and am so grateful that we found her.
